Five Reasons Why Rohit Sharma is a Better Limited Overs Captain, A must watch for all !

There have been several talks about Rohit Sharma being made the Indian limited overs captain after the Asia Cup won by Indian team under his captaincy. Rohit Sharma, the skipper brings a sense of calm into the side. His approach is somehow similar to MS Dhoni, the former captain.  Rohit is a very good tactician too. Rohit led the side Beautifully wherever he got the chance to lead the team in absence of Virat Kohli , he holds his nerves in difficult situations like Dhoni done it earlier. His batting performances also go high when he takes responsibility as a captain of the team. Also , the fact that he has won three IPL titles also and two as a captain, this things also makes his case stronger.

While Virat Kohli is not failed as captain in limited overs. Here is the reasons why Rohit is a Better option instead of Virat Kohli.

1. Proven track records as a captain:

Rohit Sharma has got a great experience of leading the side . Right in his maiden IPL season as the skipper, he led the Mumbai Indians to title glory. In the same year ,he won the champions league T20. His leadership skills was brought under heavy scrutiny when his side won only one games out of first six games in 2015. However,he helped the side stage a terrific comeback and went onto lift the title for the second time. In 2017,in low scoring final, Rohit brought his best captaincy to the fore and helped Mumbai clinch their third IPL title.
The 31 years old, led India in 17 international games thus far including the ODIs and T20s.out of this he won he won 15 and lost only 2. After losing his first ever game as India's captain aginst Sri Lanka , Rohit bounced back hard and went on to win next six matches until he lost aginst the same opposition in Nidahas Trophy. His ability to embrace defeats and comeback strong makes him quite unique.

2. Best with the bat while leading the side:

The Mumbai lad has reinvented himself after he was promoted up the order to open the innings. This move worked wonders for him as well as the team. After more than four years since this move was made, another move proved to be a landmark in his career. While he was the interim skipper of the side, Rohit Sharma batted with a lot of responsibility and determination just like he does with the Mumbai Indians.
He takes it in his stride to score the crucial runs to put the team in a better position. In the 17 limited overs matches where he led the team , the Mumbai batsman has amassed 880 runs at an average of 62.85 including the highest score of 208*. In ODIs alone ,he averages 106.8 which is phenomenal for an opener scoring 534 runs in eight outings including two centuries. As far as the T20 is concerned , his average of 40, is more than decent as well.

3. Gives Virat Kohli the freedom to concentrate on his batting:

Over the last two years or so, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been a work house. He leads the team in all three formats. Add to it his importance to the side with the willow in hand. We have seen the workload taking a heavy toll on his body in recent times. He missed playing country cricket ahead of the England series due to an injury and had to be rested for the Asia Cup.
Giving to captaincy over to Rohit in white ball cricket will ease the burden on him. It has been a while since Rohit featured in a test match and is unlikely to make it into the final crop in the near future. Hence, it is a win win situation for both the players if the captaincy is shared. It will give an immense mental relief to Virat Kohli and can focus even more on his batting.

4. Calm personality and gets the best out of the players:

If Virat Kohli is the north pole , Rohit Sharma is the south pole in terms of captaincy. These two follow a completely different approach while leading the side. While the former is very attacking and aggressive the later is very much cool minded and always think in a very calm way. Yet , again the IPL is the testimony for this and match aginst the Hong Kong in the Asia Cup is the latest example.

5. Shrewd tactician and astute thinker:

When you have a close look at Rohit while he leads the side , he always tries to stay ahead of the game. This was a skill which he observed in successful captains like Ricky Pointing , MS Dhoni, Stephen Fleming and others. Seldom does he lets the situations takes over his instincts which is a great trait of a leader.
Rohit has got this special ability to sketch a batsman's dismissal while he is right on the field. He does not need to spend a lot of hours in the drawing board and is always ready with two substitute plans in case the first doesn't work. He likes keeping things simple which prevents too much of complications. Also, he is not shy of talking an advice or two from the other players even if they are junior to him. This is one of the traits that has made him successful.
